From this pioneering research, she has become a prominent environmental activist, founding the Jane Goodall Institute in 1977 to support wildlife research and advocate for natural habitat protection in Africa. Additionally, 26 years ago, she initiated Roots & Shoots, a global movement empowering young people to lead sustainability projects benefiting animals, people, and the environment.
